Our Program

Our Purpose

Wellspring Prep was founded on a deep love for the children of our nation. We are dedicated to providing what is best for them in academic, social, mental, and spiritual aspects. United in our mission, we are ready to address a critical need in our community, as numerous parents are in search of alternative educational methods for their children due to significant shifts in many public and private schools. We hold the belief that private microschools represent the future of education. Fortunately, we are available to serve you at present. Our goal is to offer a challenging curriculum within a supportive classroom environment. Based on my extensive experience, this approach has consistently led to students developing a profound love for learning.

For me, teaching transcends a mere job or career; it is my vocation. Guiding the young hearts and minds is a source of immense joy for me, and I am thankful for the chance to engage in this calling once more. In our school, faith plays a vital role in the classroom, offering strength, fostering moral and ethical growth, creating a sense of community, building resilience, encouraging personal development, promoting self-reflection, nurturing compassion for others, among countless other virtues.

Becoming a National Board Certified Teacher in 2000 was a demanding journey that required deep reflection on the Five Core Propositions of teaching. These propositions, akin to the medical profession's Hippocratic Oath, converge to form a vision of exemplary teaching. Proposition 1: Teachers are devoted to students and their learning. Proposition 2: Teachers possess in-depth knowledge of the subjects they teach and how to convey them to students. Proposition 3: Teachers take an active role in managing and monitoring student learning. Proposition 4: Teachers critically evaluate their practice and learn from experience. Proposition 5: Teachers contribute to learning communities. At that time, I could not foresee that these would be the driving force behind my entire teaching career, and this new chapter as the founder of Wellspring Preparatory School.

More about our microschool program

  • The curriculum selected will align with our vision, mission, and focus. It must fulfill the following criteria:

    • Enhance critical thinking skills

    • Encourage student voice

    • Be relevant to present and future life

    • Promote high engagement

    • Provide rich content

    Reading Curriculum

The Reading Horizons Discovery curriculum, grounded in Orton-Gillingham principles, is explicit, systematic, and sequential, advancing from simple to complex concepts. Multi-sensory teaching methods are employed for student engagement and connection. A distinctive marking system aids students in recognizing English language patterns that dictate word pronunciation and meaning. This system supports phoneme mapping during dictation and can be used as a scaffold, phasing out as students advance to reading connected text. Reading Horizons stands out for its straightforward, comprehensive framework that enables early and sustained success, quickly boosting student motivation.

    Math Curriculum

Right Start Math is known to achieve three key objectives: it builds mathematical understanding, offers practical application opportunities, and fosters a love for math, making it ideal for small group instruction.

Zearn, a self-paced math curriculum we are considering, would complement our primary math curriculum.

    STEM Curriculum

MakerBot’s curriculum is meticulously designed to engage and inspire children through hands-on learning.

    Elementary STEM is crucial because:

    • It cultivates critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills essential for future success.

    • It nurtures curiosity, creativity, and a growth mindset in young students.

Children will utilize our 3-D printer, employing inquiry-based methods to deepen their understanding.

  • Our inaugural class will consist of students from Kindergarten to third grade. We aim to expand by adding fourth and fifth grades in the 2025-26 academic year. Our classroom will be a secure, inviting environment where the journey of collective learning starts. We aspire to foster a culture of love that encourages meaningful learning, inviting vulnerability. Such learning incites curiosity and astonishes with its revelations. We will celebrate our commonalities as well as our uniqueness. Amidst the hustle of education, happiness flourishes. Are you prepared to be a part of this? You won't regret it.
